Prototype Engineer

Samsung Design America (SDA) located in San Francisco, CA is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who shares our “innovation through passion” philosophy and thrives in a fast-pace, results-driven environment.

Essential Functions

  • Study new technologies and research innovative and cost-effective solutions to product design.
  • Conduct product testing.
  • Build prototypes of new devices, mechanisms, actuators, and products
  • Review technical product designs


Education Required : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Education Desired : Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Skills Required:

  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals: materials, solid mechanics, Newtonian physics, thermodynamics
  • Design and prototype mechanical structures and mechanisms
  • Strong CAD experience in Solidworks or NX
  • Knowledge in developing components using a variety of materials and process (injection molding, casting, die-cutting, stamping, machining, etc)
  • Creatively work under limited resource
  • Expertise in component selection and component testing
  • Experience with acoustics and thermal management is a plus
  • Experience in mass production of consumer electronics
  • Fill in gaps for other disciplines when needed (EE, SW, FW knowledge preferred)
  • Strong lab experience including use of equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, etc) for debug, characterization and analysis


Years of Experience : 5 or more years of industry experience

Travel : International and Domestic travel is required
