Samsung Research America’s Computer Science Innovation Center is currently seeking talented and highly motivated interns to join our Smart Systems team. The Computer Science Innovation Center is a key part of Samsung’s global R&D effort and aims to have direct impact on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide. The Smart Systems team is an interdisciplinary and hands-on research team focused on advancing the state-of-the-art in systems, tools, protocols, and algorithms for smart homes.
The successful candidates will work closely with researches to investigate and develop practical systems solutions for smart homes, and will build software system prototypes and create proof-of-concept technology demonstrations.
Contribute to the team’s research activities.
Develop software system and application prototypes.
Conduct experiments to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of proposed solutions.
Publish research results in top venues (e.g., SOSP, OSDI, NSDI, FAST, Eurosys).
Ph.D. student in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Proven track record of research publications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Background and Experience:
Hands-on experience in developing, debugging, and deploying systems, particularly on distributed, embedded, or mobile platforms.
Experience in Java, C/C++ or similar languages.
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
security and privacy
virtualization and container technologies (e.g., Xen and Docker)
cloud services (e.g., AWS and Azure)
distributed programming tools (e.g., Hadoop, Cassandra, and ZooKeeper)
in-home wireless network protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-wave)
