Sr. Server / Backend Software Engineer

Samsung’s VD Content & Services Division is now hiring experience engineers for its Platform cluster. The cluster is responsible for powering Samsung’s Smart TVs features like Search and Recommendations using Backend Services TVs communicate with and by providing Metadata to other Samsung's engineering groups. We are looking for TV passionate engineers who would like to contribute and improve Samsung’s Smart TV experience by developing new features and work in a challenging and advance environment.

Necessary Skills / Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
  • 12-15 years directly related experience.
  • 12+ years’ experience in Server/Backend development for large scale services.
  • Experience with Databases (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Experience with RESTful APIs (design and implementation)
  • Caching implementations (Redis, Memcached)
  • Experience with AWS Cloud tools and services (EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFront, etc.)
  • Experience in Object Oriented Design and Development
  • Fast learner and construable to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
  • Strong interest and knowledge in media (TV/Movies).
  • Experience in Functional Programing.
  • Full stack engineering experience
  • Experience with RoR (Ruby on Rails)/Node.js
  • Devops experience (build/deploy using chef, terraform, docker, etc.).

The ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with multiples levels within the company and with external contacts including carrier customers, authorized service agents, sales & equipment service representatives, etc. Must be able to influence others in acceptance, approval and to provide technical clarification. The ability to gather and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs and tables of information and to plan and prioritize multiple work assignments. The ability to read, write and provide critical technical review and prepare reports, technical manuals, test procedures and technical product repair information. Demonstrated English language competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external communications, especially in training of repair technicians communications of troubleshooting techniques. Work under very little supervision and guidance to identify and ensure achievement of production team goals and to complete individual work assignments within established time frames. The demonstrated ability to solve problems involving highly diverse conditions requiring creativity to search for solutions among learned things. Exposed to situations where only broad and general guidelines for solving problems exist. Job duties require analysis and judgment of functional practices and daily experiences be used to determine appropriate courses of action. Interact with all levels within the organization and has frequent external contacts. Physical / Mental Demands & Conditions Work is generally performed in an office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between 50% - 95% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position. Consistently demonstrates a commitment to policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities.
