Technology Strategy Intern – University Collaborations
Samsung Research America is seeking an entrepreneurial, collaborative and intellectually curious Intern to join our Technology Strategy team for the 2018 Spring or Summer. Based in Mountain View, Samsung Research America (SRA) develops next generation technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Security, VR/AR, IoT, Robotics and FinTech.
As a member of the Technology Strategy team, you will work closely with senior leadership and research labs to drive innovation, influence potential market opportunities and collaborate with academic institutions, start-ups, venture partners and leading companies in Silicon Valley.
The Strategy Intern’s flagship project will focus on University Collaborations. This will involve producing a detailed analysis of cutting edge research coming out of Norther American Universities and identifying key institutions, departments and professors that Samsung Research America should be working with. Further, the Intern will be responsible for driving these relationships with SRA Labs and writing project proposals for potential 2018/2019 research projects and collaborations.
Additionally, the Strategy Intern will work with the broader Strategy Team and Research Labs to help identify and drive “the next big thing” initiatives at Samsung Research America. Projects include proposing new technology use cases, developing business cases and building product roadmaps, proposing industry partnerships, and detailing competitive analysis and industry trends.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform a detailed analysis of cutting edge technology research along several key verticals that is coming out of North American Universities
Build a comprehensive data set that details key institutions, professors and projects at Academic Research Institutes
Build and deliver project proposals for collaborations between Academic Institutes and Research Labs at SRA
Drive strategic initiatives with academic research institutes to execute joint ventures and collaborative projects
Influence the future direction and product development at SRA research labs
Determine resource allocation for R&D efforts at SRA through a data-driven approach
Build and deliver project roadmaps, go-to market strategies, and executive presentations on emerging technologies and products of technology
Background and Experience Required
Pursuing a master’s degree in Engineering or Technology Management at a top ranked University
Potentially, an MBA or MFE candidate with past technology work experience
Knowledge of emerging technologies in multiple verticals
