Bixby is an intelligent virtual assistant which is only available as a built-in application on Samsung flagship devices and wearables. This application uses a natural language user interface to perform tasks on these devices using voice, including but not limited to making phone calls, sending text messages, setting up meetings, opening apps, setting alarms and timers, getting directions, answering general questions, providing information about restaurants and other businesses, etc. These functions vary depending on the phone or wearable model.

Position Summary:

The Natural Language Processing Software Engineer will be a critical member of the Bixby Team working to develop the next-generation service that will change how billions of users access, explore, and interact with knowledge and information.

We are building a new team of NLP software engineers and experts, whom are curious, fast-learning, and versatile to develop a new service handling knowledge at a massive scale. We have multiple open positions to create a team to achieve the following objectives: Design and development for a massive global knowledge management service, Propose and participate in leading edge discovery utilizing the latest methods in deep learning, NLP, AI, machine learning, and knowledge acquisition.

Experience Requirements:

  • BS degree in computer science, engineering or related field and 5+ years industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of how to blend machine learning and neural network algorithms for training competitive, state-of-the-art models into parallel computing environments (e.g. GPU, distributed clusters, etc.).
  • Understanding of one or more of the following: NLP, text understanding, classification, pattern recognition, question answering, information retrieval, knowledge base or similar.
  • Proficient in programming languages:  C#, Java or equivalent
  • Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • A can-do attitude with a bias for action

Preferred Requirements:

  • PhD/MS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent field is preferred.
  • Well-grounded in the best practices for developing software for and maintaining large-scale infrastructure in NLP, ML, AI or equivalent
  • Ability to adapt academic ideas and theoretical algorithms into a production system
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following: high availability, big data, distributed computing, infrastructure performance
  • Knowledge on developing and deploying features to a commercially-deployed, highly-available, big-data, distributed system
  • Experience improving performance and scalability on mission critical systems
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
