Contract Technical Writer / Content Developer

Samsung Knox Enterprise Mobility Lab, Mountain View, CA

Primary focus:

Technical writer/content developers communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately. As a technical content developer at Samsung, your role involves writing conceptual material, such as whitepapers, new feature introductions/overviews, and technical product training courseware materials, including classroom presentations in collaboration with team technical writers, UX designers, Product Management, and R&D engineers.


  • Research, plan, and document Samsung Knox product features and the associated Android and Knox mobile security platform technologies for a variety of audiences, such as software developers, IT admins, and Knox Sales teams and pre-sales engineers
  • Work collaboratively with other product development team members to identify a wide array of conceptual and training documentation for Samsung Knox
  • Develop Knox product training courseware for different types of enterprise partners (carriers, MDM, VAR), and for different types of training needs (product-level or technical-level)
  • Assess and identify product training needs as we roll out new products in the enterprise space
  • Identify and resolve issues relating to training project schedules, structure, design, and deliverables


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technical Writing, or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a software technology environment writing whitepapers, conceptual product overviews, or technical training courseware for developers, Sales Engineers, and IT personnel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and advocate the craft with internal stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen with deep understanding of mobile enterprise software, Android mobile device security technologies, such as encryption, digital certificates, keystores, and the enterprise ecosystem
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate products and technologies from previous employers and write training documentation that is clear, concise, consistent, and accurate
  • Expert ability to aggressively seek out, distill, and learn technical information from Samsung’s product teams, explain it to other team members, and then use that data to create relevant conceptual training materials
  • Stay current with trends and new technologies in the Android and mobile device security ecosystem
  • Ability to visualize and illustrate complex concepts
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and maintain high content quality in a fast-paced, constantly changing dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Able to understand and explain a range of Enterprise Mobility Management security and Android platform security technologies
  • Expertise with desktop publishing software (e.g., MadCap Flare, FrameMaker, MS Office, and graphics packages)
  • Experience with content management tools (e.g., Sharepoint, Perforce)
  • Experience with video script creation for explaining product features
