A Manager/Senior Manager of Technology Strategy & Open Innovation with diverse background in today’s competitive industry landscape including Consumer Electronics, Mobile, Networking, Telecom and Emerging Technologies and Services. The candidate must be extremely innovative and agile to very demanding challenges in identifying new emerging trends, providing comprehensive competitive analysis, identifying companies for technology sourcing and advising potential market opportunities as well as creating partnership models with startups/companies that create values to the growing Samsung’s business.
A successful candidate will work with Open Innovation Group within Samsung Research America (A subsidiary of Samsung Electronics) and play a key role in defining strategies for Samsung Electronics in various segments. This is an exciting opportunity to innovate new products and services that delight our customers.
In this capacity, he/she will be working closely with the R&D Team, Technology Strategy Group and the Product Planning Group in Samsung Headquarters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand the Samsung Headquarter’s requirements and needs in technology innovation and partnership requirement in North America. Align your business development and partnership management priorities with head-quarter’s needs
Manage and own the full cycle of innovation and partnership including but not limited to sensing, sourcing, scouting, pitching, relationship building, negotiating licensing/agreement, proof-of-concepts, managing end-to-end product development with partners (startups, Telcos, universities and venture capitals)
Proactive to propose innovative ideas and use cases to enable new technologies for Samsung. The technologies include mobile, consumer electronics, networking, wireless, services, and other emerging technologies
New products and services to enable Mobile, Consumer Electronics, Telco and IT convergence
Research and evaluate new technologies that can differentiate Samsung products from our competitors.
Analyze the impact of new technology on Samsung’s core products/solutions, and present new opportunities and/or technology strategies to integrate them to our products/solutions
Define Samsung/SRA strategy and define market requirements
Identify opportunities for potential vendor collaboration
Provide regular technical report and cooperate with Samsung Headquarters
Background and Experience Required:
Master (or higher) degree in electrical and electronics engineering, and/or computer science
MBA or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in technology development for mobile, consumer electronics, networking, wireless, services or other emerging technologies
5+ years of experience in business development and partner management with service providers, carriers, startups, network equipment providers or venture capitalists
Deep knowledge of emerging technologies ranging from hardware to software in multiple verticals
Prior experience in Mobile/Telecom/Consumer Electronic industry will be a plus
